I agree with you but the problem is EBAY themselves don't understand what an auction is. They seem to want it to become a store to me and basically discourage you to do an auction.
They went overboard on a lot of their policies and the fees on the small stuff have hurt them more than they'll ever know. All in the name of paying stockholders.
I used to deal with a guy who bought out old parts warehouses. Lots of NOS vintage parts and such. He'd sell me all the glass stuff and things he didn't normally deal with. When they instituted the fees on the shipping costs it was possible to actually loose money when the fees were all done if you listed something for under $2.00.
A lot of times I'd list stuff not knowing it's application and it would go in the hundreds of dollars, other times not. The risk isn't worth the cost anymore so all the potential revenue for them will not be there because he and I gave up on the oddball, heavy stuff. In talking with a lot of other former sellers they have done the same thing. They push the store type selling now.
