John; I made the same type of gate with 7 cedar pickets for entry to the back yard from the back road. I got 3/8 or ½ ball bearings, took a piece of bar stock about 1.5x2x3 and bored into it length wise with my mill set for 2 inches and a small bore to the end that I threaded to install a grease fitting . Then I turned down another piece about 5 just under size of the bore just shy of the bore depth (less diameter of ball bearing). And welded them to my gate with the post pointing up to keep out the rain, installed bearing with grease. I bent offsets in some 3/8 flat stock and welded that to the gate to drop in a piece of box tubing from outside gate to outside gate with ears welded to it and a hole to place a lock. I drilled and set down rods to keep outer gate secured when I only open the two inner sections, works great
