Recalls seem out of hand. Vehicles are machines and machines wear plain and simple. I think auto makers are just recalling everything now so if you ever have an accident they can claim you didn't get the recall fix. An axle always has the potential to lock up at speed and I can't imagine a way to eliminate that. I can picture future vehicles with sensors monitoring wear and a check whatever light on the dash. They will be safe but everyone will be driving old cars because new ones will cost too much. Maybe engines are too durable if Cummins would make a diesel engine that dies at 150,000 we wouldn't even know the axle can wear out orball joints.
