I have run into this a lot as well and have to agree with what has been said.

To me, Restored has ALWAYS meant back to bone stock original specs. A lot of times there are classes for original and modified for a reason. Some allow safety upgrades like seat belts and such which I agree with.

When someone asks if I restored my truck I say it's rebuilt. Personally, I enjoy the variety of rigs out there and no where is that more evident than at the Iowa rally. Seeing an untouched original in decent shape always stops me dead in my tracks.

Saying something is restored because you got it running and washed it seems to be a current trend and I think some of those TV shows have brought that into the picture now. Nothing wrong with doing it but to say it's "restored" is stretching it. Fixed it would be a better label on that.

No matter what you do and what extent you take it there will ALWAYS be someone with another idea that thinks it's the only way. If you try to please everyone you'll drive yourself nuts as it's impossible. Just do what you want with YOUR truck. The biggest crime to me is if you do not finish it and it ends up junked. Plan it out and ask yourself what the end goal is before tearing it all apart.

To have an original class would be a VERY tricky thing as most every vehicle out there has non original parts. It tends to become a bickering match as I have witnessed that in the past when I was young. Saw A guy complaining because several bolts were not plated when they should be on another car. It becomes a royal pain for basically nothing.

I'd suggest to just enjoy them for what they are, trucks.
