I am the owner of this vehicle. My father bought it new in October 1954. The vehicle came to California in 1955 and has been here ever since.
It was entrusted to a "friend" when I was moving. When I went to retrieve it he had moved, no forwarding address, phone disconnected, and email closed. It was rather sudden. I had maintained contact via email and phone and then he vanished.
No drugs involved, at least on my part. And to those who think that it was lost as part of a drug deal or other illegal activities, you have no idea who I am or anything about me.
It has apparently been seen in the area recently. It is not registered anywhere in the US. We all know they don't go fast so I am thinking it is being kept as 'bragging rights" and used for the occasional joy ride.
It is unique and reeadily identifiable due to some custom work done shortly after purchase. It was used in engineering development for mineral exploration. It had 19,000 miles on it. I have all the original documentation on the vehicle.
It was discussed on the forum in 1998 when I needed some technical advise.
And thanks to those with genuine concern. It means something to me and has some wonderful memories associated with it.
