I came into a service station one day. I happened to work part time at this station so I felt at home. I was filling the gas tank on my Honda 90 motorbike when the gas hose violently separated from the gas filler nozzle. It looks like a python in it's death spazms as it sprayed gallons of gas over me and the bike in a very few seconds. I will never forget the hissing sound it made as it sprayed the headder pipe and engine and the clouds of steaming gas rising from the bike. I was expecting to be incinerated at any second. I shut the pump off and stood in shock as I looked at my gas soaked cloths, ground, and bike. Fortunaly, no spark was present.
If the same thing happended today to someone, it would probably result in a giant lawsuit. Back then, it was just crappy luck.
