If this was a running truck with decent brakes etc, I would put the price much higher than 1k. But as is, with the drivetrain in an unworking/unknown state, and missing parts, who can tell what needs work and what is ok? If the seller wanted a lot of money for it, they would go to the trouble of getting it running, brakes checked, etc. I suspect that it was probably a trade in on one of their cars and they will be happy to just get the space back on the lot. Offer $800 and let them talk you up to 1k. Offer them 3k if they will pay for a mechanic to bring all the running gear up to spec, install the missing winch, get the emergancy brakes fixed, etc. to bring it up to a road worthy vehicle with all the original parts. Are they selling cars or car parts? :-) get my drift? What do you think they told the guy that brought this truck to the lot. Probably told him that the steel mill was farther down the road. They probably gave him $500 as a trade in on one of their cars.
Maybe I'm too cheap.
