Fair is a relative term. I paid only $1000 for a straight 64' WM300 that had a bad rear ring&pinion and a huge homemade steel flat bed w/20,000lb winch in the bed. I thought it was a little too high at the time but later realized, it was worth 3 times that considering what folks were asking in the PWA at the time (mid 80s). Considering what prices are asked for these 30 yr old work trucks today, simply because they have become a fad item, you should not expect to have the price reduced because of a few flaws as you would with some other old vehicle as they are work trucks and few are found that were not worked with the scars to go with it.
Regardless of what anyone says, if you think you got a good deal at $2000, then you got a good deal. No one should bust your bubble with the , you paid too much. Given enough time and patience, a person might find a prime truck at a low price, but the odds are not improving as they are being consumed at a very fast rate.
It is hard to give a price "unseen" and who doesn't have a little rust on their 30 yr old work truck except the ones who found the exceptions that had been sheltered or restored and as for modifications, well it has always been an excepted practice amoung the working class of trucks for them to be modified or else it was a limited piece of high dollar equipment.
