A 6V53T is WAY too big, over 1500 lb; it's a medium truck engine. It would make you go deaf, quickly.
For a 4BT LOTS of go fast parts exist, spinoffs of the 6BT/Dodge situation. In particular throttle cam plates and propane injection.
170 hp/440 hp is easily feasible without propane. I'd guess up to 250 hp, 600 ft-lb with propane. Enough? Just make sure you have the strongest possible base specification 4BTA if you can get it. And make darned sure you have a boost gauge and pyrometer installed before you start playing with it, and you know what the numbers mean.
What kind of rear end? Depends on tire size and top gear ratio. You want to gear so that rpms are 1550-1950 in top gear depending on weight of truck and plans for souping up. If you were to put a stock 130 hp/330 ft-lb non ISB 4BTA in a M37, I'd go for 4.89s, 11.00R16s and a NV4500 or 5600, which would mean 1920 in top gear at 60 mph or 81 mph at 2600 rpm. If you had more choices, and were planning a 170hp/420 ft-lb ISB 4BTA with propane, I'd look for 4.56 or even 4.10 with 0.73 top gear and the 11.00s.
But variable include top gear, tire size, planned output of engine, safety factors like "can it stop safely from 75 mph" etc.
