I should not have assumed that Brent has a WM300 type truck. As far as I know what I described is applicable only to 12v flat fender Power Wagons. My 74 W200 also has a ballast resistor, but I don't know if it operates the same as my 62 WM300. I tend to think not since the WM has only 2 poles on the resistor and the W200 has 4 poles.
Sounds like casebro has a handle of the situation. Greg
