Your carb bowl should hold plenty of fuel for starting the engine and the bowl will refill as soon as the key is released to the on position. Depending on the switch, the acc. terminal may be hot during starting also. I would recomend the pump be on the ignition side so you could run accessories without needlessly running the fuel pump with the engine off.
