I'm really impressed with the one we have for the Mine Tour. It's a 40 HP, sold by Quincy, not sure of the manufacturer. Runs very smooth and fairly quiet considering what it's doing. Of course at the real mines, they're in the 400 HP range. I don't know how small they make them, but piston compressors are definitely ancient technology by comparison. The actual compressor head itself is no bigger than the piston assembly on a 10 HP old-fashioned compressor. The biggest thing on a screw compressor is the oil separator. The screw runs in a bath of ATV which then has to be separated from the air.
