Desoto,
You might want to recruit some help...wet sanding & polishing is more difficult than the painting end...there's a real learning curve but no sandpaper should touch your truck that's rougher than 1200 grit....& even better if you use 1500 grit. You have to use tons of soapy water & flush the paper often. You need to pay very close attention to be sure you don't get any dirt under your paper...you need to listen for it. One piece of grit under there will ruin your hard work. So you sand with say 1500 & you need a small 3" x 2" rubber squeegee. Sand a few stokes, dip paper in warm soapy water, sand a few strokes, squeegee. You'll quickly see where your going.
The polishing....that's the tough part & you can ruin the parts in an instant if your not careful.
My advice is to grab your hood or a door, go to a bodyshop that will let you help & watch & learn.
Polishing a complete truck could easily take 40 hours. At least 20 of that could be buffing. You really need to know what you're doing & be using the right compounds.
Of all the shops I know...only one is any good at proper wet sand & polish.
Be prepared to spend lots of time.
