OK jeff, first, I'm going to admit I have detested these machines since the 60s when I met a Shram Pneumapower tractor.

Brilliant idea that sort of works for a while, and then makes you wish you never saw the thing.

They all run HOT. My thinking is they run HOT because the air cylinders are poorly lubricated. The second problem is the combined exhaust compressed air manifold, the air carrys as much heat as the exhaust.

Grimmer-Schmidt claimed they solved the manifold issue with a head redesign. Evidently they didn't.

Looks like the product line has changed hands a few times.
If you google "grimmer schmidt compressor" you get pages of hits. There appears to be no shortage of parts or service houses.
It also appears you will need to spend some time digging.

There may be a dealer in Rochester, I've seen a few of the machines being used by a contractor who digs holes for electric poles.
