Use CO2 or MIG gas. Cheap source of inert gas is the exhaust from a warmed up vehicle. Use duct tape and a vacuum cleaner hose. Open a exit vent vent on the opposite side.
And/or, fill with water to almost full. If the roller is off, stand on the opposite side. The water will cut down on the fuel for the explosion. Then use the inert gas.
Chunk of dry ice maybe? Whatever you use for the gas, give it long enough to displace the air/fuel mix. I like flow meters.
