The inner wheel bearing, inside the inner oil seal, inside the retaining clip.

Should the oil seal be up against the bearing, or should the seal be just enough to allow the retaining clip to fit into the groove? If the seal is just enough to clear the groove, the inner bearing has room to slop around.

In past threads with Clark, most said it was no big deal, and that it just needed to be past the groove and the bearing had room to move. Is his correct?? Or should the seal be agains the bearing to hold it in place?

I have the hub and rotor off, bearings were tight on the spindle, nothing was loose or slopping around. Except that inner bearing. The bearing shows no signs of unusual wear, or moving around like it shouldn't have been
