When the hub is prepared for the disk brakes, the hub is machined to accept a rotor flange. After the rotor flange is welded in place, the rotor flange surface is machined true.

What if....long shot....but somehow the rotor flange got welded in place really crooked and again somehow it never was checked/turned true. Now you can have a wobble which would cause shimmy.

The dial indicator will show that quickly.

Nick, be sure the dial indicator is mounded on some surface that is absolutely solid and cant move.
