I'm pretty sure the guy's "explanation" of positive and negative charges in the water going this way and that has nothing to do with it. All that would do is absorb energy, and the frequency used is not a very good one for that. I think what it really amounts to is that anything conductive acts as an additional antenna. An antenna wants to be 1/4 wavelength long to be reasonable efficient. That's 7 or 8 inches, which is a lot longer than a car key but pretty close to a hat size. A better experiment would be to try with a length of wire attached to the end of the key.
