I hear exactly what you're saying & agree with what you're trying to accomplish...just not sure why you need the newer chassis?
Seriously..the 71 W300 I'm working on...I think it rides & steers better than a First Gen. I mean it's smooth & I guess a guy could lighten up the rear spring pack a bit & then run an airbag but if you added a power steering...I'd rather have it then the problematic newer Dodge front end I think.
I mean they really didn't change much for the better in these trucks. Even my 2011 wears the front tires all crazy & I've had it in to check the alignment 3 times.
In that 2001 you need to change the track bar about every 15K miles unless you install the fancy BD job.
I don't know...I'd throw all your good running gear into a nice W200 Crew Cab & then you have something that's not only extra cool but if this goofy thing is any indication...it should be worth a heap of cash...I think he wants like $200k or so for this one & if I couldn't build a better truck within 3 months...I'd sell my tools!.....
