No explanation for why it doesn't work for you. It will be inconvenient having to remove the floor board. Although, you will always have enough extra brake fluid on board if you leave it that way.
When I was a kid, I remember a neighbor who had an old car. It must have been something like a model A. The car had a leaking radiator. Rather than fix the radiator, the neighbor mounted a small steel barrel on the roof. When the car needed more water, he would reach out the window and open the valve on the barrel to fill the radiator.
Even though I was a little kid, I can remember the sense of pride the guy had in explaining his jerry rigged solution to my dad. I can also remember my dad's look of dismay.
Every time I see the Beverly Hill Billies in their old truck, I think of that neighbor.
