I have a flatbed on my WDX and the high lift would be useless without a bumper. I think bumpers look dumb on a flatbed. And, I have had countless times when using a high lift jack, when the darn thing just refused to jack down, one click at a time. Cleaningm lubing, etc., has never solved it. However, I do have this little arrangement on my '66 Ford, which was cheap and easy. Just a couple of pieces of angle, notched on one side, with a hole drilled to use a bolt, pin, padlock, or whatever, to hold the jack in place.
