Steering boxes have a tight spot, supposed to be in the center.

It helps keep the truck going straight. My guess is your box is set up off center, and a bit too tight.

Try backing off the adjusting screw one turn.

And to center it, you might be able to re-clock the pitman arm one tooth. PITA to pull it off though, need a special pitamn arm, puller.

If you get it off, set the wheels straight ahead, run the steering back and forth while counting turns, then come back half way to center. Stick pitman arm on right there. Careful about that doulbe spline, it may need to filed out of the pitman arm if somebody hasn't already.
