I agree that drilling holes in it is quite harder than compared to the mild plate I am using. Its certainly a tougher metal but with toughness usually comes a brittle nature and it doesn't always mean that the ult tensile is higher either. I think that my methods are about as good as I am going to be able to get aside from bolting / riveting rolled channels inside.

From deductive reasoning... It appears that the frame parts are made from A6 which is essentially A36 plate. I have a 1940 Machinery's Book I intend to look at tonight. It has a ton of information on SAE standards of the time. Pre-war print.
