I would suggest posting on this forum and the PWA forum specifically looking for an original spring from a vacuum activated carburetor of that vintage. Also check the classified sections of both forums - post a parts wanted ad.
I was able to source one that way, someone had a spare.
Since then I watched on ebay and bought a used E7S1 as a spare.
Finally, if all else fails you could go the route gmharris suggested and put a later carb on that has a mechanical accelerator pump.
