Well, since you had your truck running recently, you won't have as much work. Mine had been sitting for about 20 years. I also had to deal with getting a new sender (expensive) finding a gasket and cleaning the fuel filler pipe and welding the vent tube in place and getting a new connector hose. The tasks just kept adding up.
One step I forgot to mention was using the acid (included with the Hirsch kit) to turn the flash rust to a stable compound. The Hirsch kit also contains a degreaser, but I think the first step should be muriatic acid. It's a powerful cleaner, especially on rust.
