I haven't done a clear yet. Seen too many that had the clear degenerate.
I've heard that adding a bit of the base paint to the clear protects the clear from the sun. I did use a bed liner product that was tintable urethane. It called for adding 10% base to the product, which was plenty to make the goop match the base coat. So maybe only 5% would keep the clearness/gloss/depth, yet still add the protection of the pigment?
So far as brands go, my green five window is PPG, 7 years old. Never polished out, never waxed, paint is good. The blue project has been idle for two years since spraying the one step house brand, never polished or waxed either, and it is oxidizing.
