But, I would never go to work on a system without first verifying that the oil gauge reading is correct with another gauge.

And, I'm not sure that 10 lbs is not about right at low RPM. That's one reason why I suggested that idling an old engine for long periods of time is not good for it.

It's not good for them, but some engines will idle for a long time with no oil pressure at all, just relying on the residual lubrication.
