I have a couple of trucks that have old paint that is still thick enough (in most places) that I feel they are worth leaving as-is and just give them a coat of wax once a year. Eventually, that once a year rub down is going to wear through and any color seen will be the black primer. But, for now, I am satisfied with the way they look and I would be happy leaving the '64 in the classifieds the way it is.

However, crawl under one of my trucks and they look like heck. Not much difference than crawling under any of the parts trucks at VPW. And there is nothing I can do about it short of doing what was done to that '64. I don't get too worked up about it though. We have white limestone here and that is what is spread on the gravel roads in this area. Take that '64 down my road for a few miles after a spring rain, and the underside of it will look just like the underside of either of my trucks. And if I were to carry a couple of ton of that limestone home in the back of the '64 for my own drive, the Line-X coating on the floor would fit right in with the rest of the truck's character.

I would not be afraid to work that truck. For my use, what the seller has done would just extend the life of the truck several years. They said those are new boards. I would be sick if they had coated original boards, but I think what they have done here has been to replicate the look that the original black painted boards had but with a much more durable finish. I think that particular coating is going to look better after carrying the two ton of limestone than any varnished wood of any species ever would. Varnished wood in that bed would probably look like a polished t**d when fresh and even worse after hauling loads.

But my point of view comes from owning Power-Wagons to use. If I were owning them to flip them, then I would probably left it as they found it inn order to attracted the highest number of buyers.
