Get on Yesterday's Tractor's website. Yes, it is a tractor site, but you will see guys posting their hauling schedules and also stuff needing hauled. A guy named Steve hauled my '50 with massive 39.5" TrXus tires (read: WIDE) on it from Oregon to Indiana for $1000. I gave him $1100 because I was so happy with how he handled the entire deal. He used an F-350 dually with a modified long car trailer, and was just a really, really good guy.... an everyday Joe, not some know-it-all, arrogant plug. He called throughout the trip to let me know how things were, and even showed pictures he had taken all across the country on the way. I'd go that route ten times over before I'd even think about a "professional" hauler- I've been burned by a LOT of them. Just as with any carrier, you have risks, but my experience with Steve (last name unknown) was perfect.
