The Spicer axle found on many of the heavier duty Dodge pickups is a Spicer/Dana 60. There are many variations of the Dana 60 axle.

The data plate on your truck will show that the axle is a Spicer. There is a Spicer Corporation and a Dana Holding Corporation in existence today.

Clarence Spicer developed the first u-joint in 1904. Before that, cars were chain driven.

Charles Dana was a businessman and attorney (it figures) who became president of Spicer and changed the name of the company to Dana Corporation.

Today, Dana is a holding corporation which owns Spicer, as best as I can figure.
