Nick, don't worry about it, I'm 64 and worked on cars and trucks like this for several years before things went electronic, if you don't get to use this knowlegde pretty often it will run and hide in the recesses of your brain, but it will come back with a little use. when I got my truck six years ago, a little while after I got it, it started running rough and would miss very lightly, idled rough, was losing power more each day. had me bumfuzzled, ran a compression test=good,carb=good, wires=good, plugs=good, and then about 3am it hit me upside the head, check the points dummy!!! ajusted the points, all was fine again, it had just been so long since I had dealt with a set of points that it just didn't resister. all the stuff that we learned as kids will come back as you work on your truck, and if it don't, someone on this forum will remember it for you. good luck, Dave.
