I dont remember much from brake school either. but these are called proportioning valves because that is what they do. no dealer catalogs or aftermarket catalogs call them combinantion valve. it controls/proportions/balances them amount of pressure sent to front and rear. when you say hold off valve arent you really describing a proportioning valve?
