It will hold a bit of pressure in wheel cylinders to prevent air getting in. It's the big rubber doughnut that goes in first when rebuilding, plus the rubber check valve in the aluminum spring seat that goes in second.

But nobody here has ever complained about it keeping brake presure on their calipers. Most dual cylinders have on in the end that goes to the rears, for the wheel cylinders of drums.
