Those sorts of businesses can only survive if they are real businesses with real paying customers that can pay decent wages to good workers. For the machine shop in Texas, that means we still need an oil industry. If a few are just preserved as "living history museums", that doesn't provide real jobs. Furthermore, I suspect the shop in that video wouldn't survive one day in California with all their "safety" and "environmental" regulations.
