Early 80s I met a guy in that long closed gas station. Said he had been towing cars off that hill since the 20s. Seems after coming home from WW ONE, he landed there. And got his mail mixed up with a fellow with a very similar name. Same guy who used to get his mail confused in France had come back home to Imperial Valley.
He said he had tried a job in town for a while, at the Broadway department store. Selling nylon stockings to the ladies. But his hands were so rough he kept making runs in them.
I was looking at his '46 one ton 2x for the 4.30 gears. Didn;t deal though, rust free desert truck with what was left of OE paint.
Weaver might have been a partner though. The name will probably come back to me tonight at 3:00.
