Some toll booths in the East used to have a flexible wire sticking up from the road, sort of like a curb feeler, as I remember, The purpose was to bleed off static electricity from vehicles so the toll takers didn't get shocked.

This must have been one of those ideas that sounded good, but never worked out.

I'm probably the only one who remembers this. Anyone else remember them?
