Thanks Bill, that's what I was afraid of.
As I live in Wyoming, no heat is not an option, so removing the core will be what I'll do.
I did once have a early 2000s Mercury Cougar that I bought with high mileage on it, and used for a town and summer car (I kept getting parking tickets with it in Gillette where the parking officer thought it was a "Jaguar" for some reason). Anyhow, it's heater was blocked and I never repaired it, which made for some miserable winter driving but it was just a beater. When my son was old enough to drive we got a second local driver, which was, of course, a Dodge D1500 4x4, 97 model.
