Hey guys, the wife and I have been looking into a decent fuel mileage vehicle that still fits our needs but can get in and out in over a foot of snow,5 speed, is easily maintained with off the shelf parts (and not from a dealer), has room for the kid (planning on another one soon), the 3 dogs, and a couple of bags. Pretty much been through all of the other options from VW diesel wagons to the smaller crossover SUV's with a bit of disgust...so we are Strongly considering doing a cummins swap into a 99-04 Grand Cherokee (I can pick up a decent one for between 500-1k). I know I am going to need about 4" of lift and to bubble the hood a bit. I will also be swapping out the Dana 35 rear end and at least for now keeping the front D30.
I am looking to see what is available through the Power Wagon family. I need to get some prices on the following:
4bt with the adapter for the Chevy 465 trans (there is a 15° tilt built in from what i have read). If the price is reasonable, I would be interested in a motor that is in need of an overhaul as long as it is complete and I would be happy with either injection pump.
Either a Getrag 5 speed from behind a cummins, or an NV3550 from a half ton chevy (if anyone has one)
Hopefully there is a NP241 or 242 mounted behind the trans.
If we make the decision to pull the trigger, It would be nice if we could make the deal at the Iowa rally. Drop me an email if you have anything im looking for, or everything!!
