Here's a funny story for you guys...if you look on Gordon's Powerwagon Advertiser Forum, that truck in the picture is my 1993 First Gen Cummins...the first one I ever had. I installed STA Power Kings on it & that's them in the picture. I took the truck to DTT transmissions to have a fancy transmission installed in it & when they finished installing it I get a call from the owner & here's how the call goes...
"Hi Marty, we got your transmission installed & so if you want to bring down a trailer to pick up the truck, we'd be happy to set up the line pressures etc once you get some new tire installed on it." Me..."I beg your pardon?...I just installed those tires last week...they're brand new?"
Owner..."Marty...my guy took the truck out to test the trans & made it 3 blocks from the shop & turned around. He came in my office & told me to go test it...the truck is not safe with those tires & we won't be driving it again until it arrives back here with radials on it or at least something where we don't need a motorcycle helmet to protect the top of our head from hitting the roof!"
That's a serious story...I installed a set of TSL Radials on it & the Power Kings went on my fathers orange WDX where they still reside today...with less than 200 miles on them I might add :)
I love the look of the Power King & Goodyear tires...dislike the Super Lugs but I also love those 10.50's...but they certainly don't drive on the road like a Michelin.
Sounds like your Michelins must have been worn badly or something Steve? I'm a way bigger fan of the XZL than the XL for ride quality. I'd take the Chinaman specials over XL's.
