If you happen to drive the shaft out, just keep going as long as your dowel is up to it. Or you could try a piece of pipe that will fit over the drive dog and get onto the distributor body, but plenty of soaking first. Make sure everything is nice and clean and free from lumps and bumps when you put it back together.
