The drums will interchange, and I believe the gear housings are identical. The MU3s I've seen have nicer drums, as the cable is anchored to the inner corner of the drum with a set screw, rather than a U-bolt on the side that pushes the cable out of line when spooling in the cable. I think the MU gear housings are slightly different, as they don't have a reinforcing gusset on the outside of the housing, just above the hole for the drum shaft. The gusset was added when the weight rating was increase from 5000 lbs to 8000 lbs, or something like that.
