Not being a Mechanical Engineer, I put my trust in the GM Design Engineers that designed
the rotors and how they are fastened to the hubs.
GM/Detroit would/will do anything possible to save money in building vehicles. The money saved by not drilling/taping 4 holes per rotor, the fasteners, and installation on the lines, over time would be tremendous. Yet the engineers felt the need for the extra 4 fasteners on the rotors. They probable knew/know something we dont comprehend.
Another issue is State Safety Inspection. In NY missing fasteners in critical areas will result in immediate safety inspection failure. Try to explain to the inspector that the 4 missing bolts are really not needed, not important.
