Some years ago when I was just starting my search for a Power Wagon, I was frustrated by either finding trucks that were "NOT FOR SALE" or just no trucks at all. I was new and didn't know about Power Wagon Advertiser and was not then on the internet.

In my desperation, I bought a '55 through an ad in Hemmings. The seller assured me the truck was 90% rust free. I drove from Texas to South Carolina to pick it up. When I got there, I found a truck that had a few dents but was running well. I drove it onto the trailer, tied it down, and headed back to Texas.

It was only when I got it home and off the trailer that I noticed some large spaces where there was supposed to be truck. The seller had not lied about it being 90% rust free. The truck was 90% Bondo and we all know Bondo does not rust. Bondo does fall off.

I'll tell you what I hate. I hate that there's no one out there who will buy this truck from me for what I paid. This one IS FOR SALE so all you guys who think I'm hoarding it for capitalistic gain bring your money and come get it.

I am a collector searching for the ultimate truck - at a price I can afford. I have several Power Wagons. As part of my ongoing search for the most complete truck in the best condition, I have acquired some that need help. I bought other trucks that had parts these trucks needed. I'm still not hoarding. I'm buying a whole truck just to get a scarce part. And once I have removed that part, I just hate that no one will come and buy a stripped frame.

I wish there were more capitalists to buy trucks and sell me a single part so I don't have to buy a whole truck each time I need a part.

The one thing I have learned is that there are several dealers who are simply interested in exploiting the collectors, particularly the newer ones. They choose to trade in Power wagons instead of "Beanie-Babies".

Fortunately, there are many more out there who have a Power wagon "soul" and are making it better for the rest of us. I would really hate it if they were not there.
