according to Dodge Truck factory sales literature specifications for standard factory engines. The mid-season 1966 model year Power Wagon sales brochure "Dodge Builds Tough 4-Wheel-Drive Trucks", 2/66 81-305-6106, lists for the 318A (poly) 200 HP @ 3900 rpm and 285 ft-lbs. of torque at 2400 rpm with a 2 bbl carburetor and a 8.25 compression ratio. The 1968 model year PW sales brochure "Dodge Trucks Low-Tonnage 4-Wheel Drive" 8/67 81-305-8106 lists for the 318LA (wedge) 210 HP @ 4000 rpm and 318 ft.-lbs @ 2800 rpm with a 2 bbl carburetor and 8.50 compression ratio. All figures are gross, not net, and indicate the 318LA wedge outperforms the 318A poly.

These published factory specs appear to contradict your statement the 318LA wedge has less performance than the 318A poly. What facts do you rely on to reach your conclusion that the 318A poly outperforms the 318LA wedge? What measurements do you use to determine "performance"?
