Pretty much the same body mounted higher on a lighter-duty chassis. Slightly less work to drive because of the weight and steering effort but conversely easier to turn over if you get it wrong.

Parts for either are about the same cost and same difficulty to get. 1/2 ton will have 7.50 x 16 tyres and the axle ratio is taller so both of them top out about 55 mph. Engine and single speed tranfer pretty much the same in each (early 1/2 tons had slightly smaller 217 cu in engine - later and all 3/4 had the 230) The 1/2 and 3/4 ton have the bellhousings set up differently for peadls, etc.

If you are in the US it seems that 1/2 tons are slightly less valued by the natives for some reason, here in Europe it's the other way around. In generally the 3/4 ton is more impressive but a real truck top drive, the 1/2 ton you could drive a lot further and faster. If you want a Carryall to commute in you'll need a 1/2 ton 4 x 2 like the WC 36 or WC 48 though - neither is a ball of fire.
