Most 1941's had dualie studs and nuts on the rear axle, even if they only have single tires and one spare. Most cab/chassis and maintc trucks with special bodies had dualies.

As far as the pickups, I've never seen a photo of one with dualies actually installed, though I have seen a photo of one with dualies and an armored cab. I don't know if it was a 1940 VC or 1941 WC.

At one time trucks meant for the artillary were equipped to run not only dualies in the rear, but also on the front axle for traction off road. It was expected to remove the dualed front wheels when going back on pavement. A few very early photos show the special dualie nuts on the front axle.

There's no reason why you can't dualie your pickup. But you'll notice the fender will not cover the outside tire. Many states require the fender to cover it, so I'd consider using sheet rubber or similar to extend the fender, or make a custom fender.

There's a photo on the net (I forget where) of a 1941 WC that has been converted to a cargo truck with dualies. The bed extends all the way over the wheels and the truck looks remarkably similar to a Chevy 1-1/2 ton 4x4 cargo truck. I think this is the same truck that's been in an issue of Military Vehicle Magazine once or twice.
