Of course I meant an electrical heat sensing unit

to operate the electric waterpump and not a mechanical thermostat. If I gave that impression ,I'm sorry but still, the water cannot circulate through the cooling system or engine until the water within the engine reaches the temp. range of the mechanical thermostat to open thus allowing the waterpump to circulate the coolant throughout the system. It would seem desireable for the head and top of the cylinder area to heatup up first as this would quickly allow for better running due to better atomizing of the fuel during intake. Also this is where the mechanical thermostst is usually located.
I have been excited about the thought of the factory removable impeller unit(as on my WM300) being converted to electric power thus keeping the original housing. Most electric waterpumps are designed with the impeller fitted directly to the motor shaft, thus eliminating any belts.
This is not a recent idea of mine, they've been making these waterpump and fan units for years and I've thought about it for years without sharing it because I thought someday I might make some money from it but, it seems there was always something else that needed done so now I just try to share my ideas with people who hopefully can use and appreciate them and improve on the efficiency and longevity of our PWs and the L-head engines. I do appreciate a good debate here and there as it keeps those involved, on their toes and those that observe these debates will hopefully get to thinking about ideas of their own.
I heard a story about thomas edison once that told of an interview he had with news reporters after his success at the light bulb and had stated that he tried 10,000 materials as eliments before he found one that worked and lasted, one sarcastic reporter asked: Mr. edison, don't you feel like a fool having made 10,000 failures before you got it right? At which edison replied, No, I don't feel like a fool, as I now know 10,000 things that won't work.
