Included loose in the bed of my recently purchased '53 B-4-PW is a PTO winch of unknown origin. I would appreciate some help or opinions regarding:
a). What it might have come on originally
b). It's lb. rating
c). Will it work on my truck in place of an MU-2
d). If not, what would its potential market value be for sale or in trade for an MU-2
HERE ARE THE CLUES: (Note: I will refer to "drivers side" and "passenger side" as if the winch were mounted on a front bumper)
1. It has the following STAMPED (indented) markings on the drivers side casing:
- LU4-R
- 5219135
- 2-D
2. It has the following CAST (raised) markings:
- BRADEN WINCH COMPANY on drivers side casing
- LU4 134 on drivers side casing
- LU4 133 on passenger side casing
- LU4 148 on housing cover at forward end of input shaft
- LU4 143B on clutch handle
3. Clutch handle is on passanger side
4. PTO input is on drivers side
5. Its total width of 24 1/4" easily fits between the 27 1/2" frame rail gap of my truck
My truck has a rear facing drivers side PTO, but the cover on the forward facing side of the PTO looks as if it would accept a forward facing shaft.
To an untrained eye, it appears complete. Is there a method of testing to see that its fully functional without doing all of the necessary modifications to mount it to my truck?
Thanx for any input. Bruce
