Overflow tank plumbing size question- 3/8 or 5/16?

Radiator overflow tubes are 5/16, but is the tube to the overflow tank 3/8? And a bastard coupling at rad tube to go from 5/16 to 3/8? Or 5/16 all the way?

I have found a source for the PW size fillers, so production will include them. No caps though.
