When I got the M37 it had a inline diaphragm type fuel pump that over pressurized the float, so I went to a the old style "canister" vane type pump. This should be about ideal for your LA318 motor and puts out 6 psi...

I am running the same motor in my 68 Utiline, but with a Summit brand stage 1 intake manifold, Holley 2300 series 350 cfm two barrel and hedman headers into purple hornie glasspacks. It took a bit tuning to get the low end grunt I wanted to out of it.
